WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS LIKE?

We will spend the first session or two getting to know one another. I will ask a lot of questions to learn where you are, where you’ve been, and what has and hasn’t helped in the past. It’s also a great time for you to get to know me. You can ask me questions and make sure I’m going to be a good fit for you.

From there we lay out a roadmap for what you want to do. We work together to tailor the plan to you. There are different tools and philosophies we can use based on your unique needs and preferences.

DO YOU OFFER TREATMENT OUTSIDE OF EATING DISORDERS?

Yes, I also treat anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health and relational issues.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET WHILE I'M IN TREATMENT?

I meet with most of my patients weekly. Recovery is similar to exercise -- the more frequently you work at it, the stronger you get.

IS THE FAMILY INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT PROCESS?

Yes, often as part of the individual therapy process, I will have family and other members of the individuals’ support system to be part of the process.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I am a self-pay provider, meaning that I do not accept insurance. This enables me to offer the best quality of care rather than have treatment protocol dictated by an insurance company.

Many insurance companies have out-of-network benefits that allow you to get reimbursed for treatment. You can contact your insurance company to determine your benefits. If you are interested in pursuing reimbursement, I provide a receipt that you can use.

HOW DO I START THE TREATMENT PROCESS?

Feel free to call me at (913)631.3800 ex 107, or email me at kirsten.oelklaus@gmail.com. We  will arrange for an appointment at your convenience.
